Blog / Expanding Access: How Kaz Reaches Families Who’ve Been Left Out
Kaz helps level the playing field for families in rural areas, low-income communities, and other underserved groups — making special education guidance accessible to all.
Special education support shouldn’t depend on where you live, how much money you make, or whether you can afford an advocate.
But too often, it does.
If you live in a big city with strong advocacy nonprofits, maybe you can find help.
But if you're in a rural district — or even just a working-class neighborhood without connections — your options shrink fast.
Advocates cost money. Legal advice costs money.
And even free resources often require time, tech access, or knowledge that families don’t always have.
I built Kaz because I saw how uneven the system is. Some families get coached, prepared, and supported. Others are left trying to Google "What is an IEP?" the night before a school meeting — and hoping for the best.
Kaz was designed to meet families where they are, especially those who:
- Live in rural or hard-to-reach areas
- Don’t have easy access to advocates or legal help
- Are navigating the system in a second language
- Work multiple jobs and don’t have hours to research
- Feel intimidated, dismissed, or ignored by the school
Kaz is available 24/7 — no scheduling, no transportation, no phone calls required.
It works on a phone, in plain English (or Spanish), and doesn’t require a parent to be a legal expert to understand what’s happening.
Kaz doesn’t gatekeep information.
Parents don’t need to pay, register, or give up personal data to start getting help.
The goal is simple: make advocacy tools available to the families who need them most.
Kaz:
- Explains your rights clearly
- Helps you write effective messages
- Understands your state’s rules and timelines
- Guides you step-by-step through the process
- Does it all in plain language, without judgment
I created Kaz for my son — but I built it for every parent who's ever felt overwhelmed, out of place, or completely alone in the IEP process.
If you're a parent in a rural district, in a low-income zip code, or part of a community that's historically been pushed to the margins — this tool is for you.
Kaz helps make the special education system more fair, more clear, and a little less lonely.
Because every family deserves support — not just the ones who can afford it.
